Elastolin Toy Soldiers
Elastolin plastic toy soldiers were manufactured by the O. & M. Hausser company. Hausser produced plastic figures from 1912 to 1983. The company's molds were then sold to a German railroad toy company by the name of Preiser and they re-issued many of these figures. Currently, an American company owns the license to manufacture painted Elastolin figures in the US and these figures are painted in according to methods outlined by the original Hausser company.
"Elastolin" refers to the composition compound that the figures were made out of. It consists of glue, sawdust and kaolin.
