Britains Toy Soldiers
The W. Britians Company first started making their metal toy soldiers in 1893 and continued production until 1966 of their hollowcast soldier figures. While still in business, Britains was focusing their energies for the next 20 years or so on different aspects of their toy business, of which plastic toy soldiers played some part, but it was in 1983 that Britains re-entered the toy soldier collectibles market with a flourish upon the launch of their first all metal toy soldier in over 20 years and they continued to release metal soldiers as part of their collectibles range even as the company changed hands multiple times after the retirement of the last member of the Britains family.
Today Britain's toy soldiers continue to be a popular collectible and it isn't only the toys that are sought. Britain's used to publish full color catalogs which are collectible in their own right, but also useful if you are Britain's toy collector for identifying your finds. Additionally, all of Britain's play sets were numbered making it easier to collect them as well.
